Kite Club New York City's mission is to bring kiteboarding to New York City and New Yorkers. We offer or are on route to offering any service to make that happen. To further inquire about our services, please send an email to info@kiteclubnyc.com and we will get back to you shortly.

Currently Offered
Local lessons: we offer instructorship in the New York City area, at a destination anywhere from 1 to 3 hours outside of New York City (depending on the weather and your preference). With very large variation from person to person, on average, you need about 10-12 hours of instruction before you become an independent kiteboarder. Each lesson that we offer is three hours long and is offered with a maximum one-instructor-one-kite-to-two-student ratio. The cost of each course is $249 or $325, depending on whether it is a paired or private lesson. Keep in mind that some of the best learning happens with two or more students, allowing for optimal hands-on time mixed in with observation time. Call us for weekday and group pricing.

There are five fundamental kiteboarding lessons:

White Belt: Focuses on kite flying, ~3 hrs (first two hours focuses on kiteboarding theory and kite flying on land)
Yellow Belt: Focuses on getting up on the board, ~3 hrs (water kite mastery, trying the board for the first time)
Orange Belt: Focuses on stable riding of the board, .~3 hrs
Blue Belt: Focuses on riding consistently and upwind, ~3 hrs
Black Belt: Focuses on turns and fundamentals of jumps, ~3 hrs

The white belt course is designed to get you far enough along to where you can decide if you like the sport enough to continue with a commitment.

“BUY ONE SHARED LESSON: $249”: Paypal
(Incremental $76 is due at time of lesson for one-on-one lessons)

Equipment rental: Equipment rental is included in the price of the lessons and includes the appropriate size kite, a harness, a lifejacket, a helmet, booties for your feet, a board, and the bar/lines to control the kite. Depending on water temperature, you may want to rent either a wetsuit or drysuit. Equipment rental without lessons is negotiated on a one-off basis, after we obtain a level of comfort that you can kiteboard safely. In general, renting equipment will only be slightly less expensive than taking lessons which include the equipment rental.

Equipment sale: We teach all kiteboarding lessons with enhanced safety system Bow kites by Best Kiteboarding and therefore we also focus on selling these. If you have an affinity towards any other brand, we certainly will be able to educate you about it and obtain it for you.

Coming Soon
Vacation/camp planning and booking: we are scoping out ideal locations outside of the region, both domestically and internationally, where you can get away and just focus on your kiteboarding. While weather anywhere is unpredictable, there are certain spots that can definitely provide very consistent kiting conditions. All inclusive packages which include room, board, and lessons will soon be offered.

Snow Kiting: Yeah, you guessed it! Who needs a lift to go up a slope when there is so much wind on a mountain? Strap yourself up to a kite, ride up, and literally fly down! The skills required here are slightly different but once you have kite control and board control down, you are on your way to snow kiting.
